Finding a Job in Combined Internal Medicine and Psychiatry

Postby johnnyo » Wed Dec 17, 2003 11:27 am

Hello,

I am a Fourth Year IM/Psych Resident at Rush University and with the half a decade coming to an end I feel the pressure to find a way of paying back my student loans. I am sure there are those in similar situations out there. At Rush we have a pretty big Med-Psych class and last year 5 graduated and went to Harvard, Emory, UCLA, UC Davis and Private Practice.

I have big shoes to fill and feel that discussion on how people are finding positions or creating intergrated pracitces would be very helpful for everyone involved.

I have a strong interest in long term intergrated managment of HIV patients but I also feel this is model for many chronic illnesses, like schizophrenia, Diabetes, ESRD, Borderline PD etc...

I am looking into intergrated treatment centers at academic centers like UCSF and CORE Center at Cook County Hospital.

So what are you doing or thinking about?
