General Chemistry grades needed for medical school

Postby joey f » Wed Apr 14, 2010 1:03 am

I went to a junior college and walked wout with a 3.75. All A's in Bio and math. I'm in my first semester of a four year school (UNC- charlotte) and they seem to do the weeding out in chemistry. I've hung in there in my first chem class, and im going to probably have to take a B, im big at stressing> Do med schools look very hard at your basic chem scores, say over your organic chem scores (if I were to do better, but who am I fooling, its organic chem)?

I've never heard of general chemistry being weighed more or less than organic chemistry. When you apply for medical school, you'll have to separate out your science grades from your non-science grades. Aside from that distinction, there is not a further breakdown of your grades.

Plenty of medical students have gotten a B in general chemistry.

Best of luck.
