6-8 Year Undergrad/Med Programs

Postby Jon91 » Thu Jan 01, 2009 5:32 pm

Hello. I am a junior in high school and I am interested in pursuing medicine as a career (for the moment). I have been looking at some 8 year combined undergraduate/medical school programs. I know of the programs at Brown (PLME), Northwestern (HPME), and U of Rochester (REMS). My question was what other schools have similar programs? I already read your opinions on these programs from other posts, but my thoughts were that if I am going to attend med school anyway, why not get admission out of the way? This way, I can focus more on learning and take the classes I want to take instead of focusing intently on my GPA and class rank for medical school admission. What are some other advantages/disadvantages of these programs? Thanks a lot for your feedback in advance.
